Modifying Blackstone Griddle PlacementUpdated 15 days ago

Blackstone griddles often vary in the position of their bottom standoff pins, which can differ from model to model or even year to year. To provide the most universally compatible replacement griddle, we surveyed dozens of models to determine the most common pin placement. While we’ve designed our replacement griddle with the most standard pin configuration, some modifications may be required for a perfect fit on your specific model.

If you find that the front, rear, or in rare cases all four pins do not align with the holes in the Blackstone grill base, you may need to drill new holes in the base to ensure proper fitment. Fortunately, this is a quick and easy DIY project. Follow the steps below to complete the adjustment:

Step 1

Apply a strip of painters or masking tape to both sides of your Blackstone base.

Step 2

Position your Steelmade replacement griddle onto the Blackstone base. Verify that the rear drain slot is offset to the rear of the base over the Blackstone drip tray to ensure proper draining. Be sure to check that the griddle is square to the base and that the pins are centered on the base sides.

Step 3

Once you are satisfied with the placement of the griddle, mark the position of the pins on the painters tape using a pencil, pen, or marker.

Step 4

Remove the griddle from the base.

Step 5

Using a 1/2" metal drill bit, carefully drill the new holes. The metal on the Blackstone base is thin, so it won't take much effort to drill through the material with the 1/2" bit. For an even easier process, you can start with a smaller bit to create a pilot hole before drilling the full-sized hole. When finished, remove the painters tape from the base and place your griddle into position.
